I spotted this while checking a section of the roof from a second-story bedroom window. This is a portion of the brick chimney on the back of the house we were inspecting. There were several places where the mortar had chipped away and some of the bricks were damaged. The chimney was basically stable on the inspection date, but left uncorrected, this condition could possibly lead to a failure of the chimney structure. We suggested a qualified brick mason evaluate and make any needed repairs. We don't nitpick but we do pay attention to the small things that could cause big problems later!
